Never Skip a Golden Opportunity
UPDATE: Geico has 100% used this video as inspiration for their "You Can't Skip This" campaign. I'm OK with that. They are my car insurance provider.
This video, made with a tiny budget and lean crew, has become the standard for which all other social creative is measured at Lexus. And that is very vindicating, because this little bastard had to conquer more obstacles than anything I've ever worked on.
My art director Adam and I came up with this social concept early in Lexus's Golden Opportunity Sales Event process. It was spawned from experience. We, like you, HATE the ads at the beginning of YouTube videos. We cannot wait to hit skip and get to our video. But when you do hit that skip button, are you skipping a golden opportunity? We decided the answer was yes, and thus we built a video to prove that point.
It was a hit. Just check out the comments.
We earned more than 100,000 views during its run on YouTube, and all of those were organic. We wanted to see if clever creative on a budget could out perform larger budgeted clips. It did.
